The 2009-2010 season has started and we played our first match (against University ‘B’) on 6th October. I’ll post the result here as soon as somebody sends it to me. Captain Bob has provided the new fixture list.

The new season brings a new venue this year - Handsworth WMC, Holme Lea, 445 Handsworth Road, Sheffield, S13 9DD - which we tried out with one of our rare club nights last Thursday. First impressions were good, the room being large, well-lit, comfortable and quiet. Joining us for the first time was new member Harry Feather, who was very welcome.

I have made some changes to this website, adding a login facility. Once logged in, members will be able to submit material to the website. Such material could be results, match reports or anything else chess-related that a club member wishes to write about. Members could submit their best games played for the club, or even annotate them too! The articles will not appear straight away, but will be added to a queue until I release them for publication, editing where needed. In due course I will provide a template for the submission of match results. If you want a login ID, please contact me (via the ‘Contact’ menu item on the left) and I shall arrange one.
