Over the board, he was champion of Worcestershire on many occasions, played a number of times in the British Championship and was Blind World Champion in 1958. In correspondence chess, he was British Correspondence Champion in 1943, 1947 (jointly) and 1951 (jointly) and Correspondence Blind World Champion in 1957, 1959, 1961, 1964 (jointly) and 1966. To the right of Bill is Mr Wales, and to the right of him, Eric Vincent. Ted Williams is the man whose head is immediately above Bonham's.
