This simultaneous display took place at Sheffield University on 16th February 1975. The following brief report appeared in a local newspaper.
“Champion display
Sheffield student Tony Miles, junior world chess champion, took just four hours yesterday to obtain 36.5 points from a possible 39 in a display at the university.
Yesterday, Miles pitted his wits against chess players from the Sheffield League, the Sheffield Works League and local schools … whose ages ranged from 10-50.
He was given a standing ovation at the end of what he said had been an ‘exhausting’ four hours.”
I have two games from this event. In the one by Bill Pettigrew, Miles brings off a nice, passive exchange sacrifice. Barry Oakes plays a steady game against the then World Junior Champion, and, after a grandmasterly slip, even misses a very difficult win!

If anybody knows any more of this event, especially any more of the games, could they please contact me?
